LIVE GIGS

John Baker mumbling about gigs for NZ (CHCH, WELL, AUCK) end 2011

REVIEWS

Line up was Mike Rudd, lead guitar, harmonica and vocals: Trevor Courtney, drums and vocals: Tim Piper, lead guitar: Martin Forrer, bass.

Exceptional 2 gigs at Al's bar which is fast becoming the venue to showcase talent in NZ.

The Chants were no exception presenting a steamy and action packed set with material from their early days at the King Bee and of course their 2 singles. The band was tight and Rudd was in full vocal glory. The addition of Tim Piper on guitar gave an added authenticity to their performance, the audience demanding 2 encores before the band were allowed to leave the stage. The performance was recorded on video for future release.

comments from the Chants R&B / Wild Things '07 Tour

"I don't want to single out anybody in particular - the level of performance was exceptional from the everybody and there was little to differentiate us (I think we all did great!) - but I do have to mention that if there was a highlight for me it was The Chants R&B! You guys were so tight! Trevor, you're a legend!!!!"

"*Chants R n B: one group that I never ever thought i would ever see & now that I have seen them my life is the better for it, You guys took everybody's breath away & it was an honour for me to meet you all."

"What an awesome performance you old farts put on last Saturday! I guess I qualify as one of the older old farts, and it was a real pleasure to be on the bill with all of you guys. Eddie Rayner said to me that he and Paul Crowther were knocked out by the plethora of GREAT guitar sounds."

"WHAT A BLAST ON SATURDAY NITE;;''@!#!!!!...THE CHANTS BLEW ME AWAY TOO.... ON BEHALF OF THE BREAKAWAYS..I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE HUGE GINORMAS THANKS TO JOHN BAKER...FOR PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER.."
